100 Most Beautiful

I see People Magazine released their 100 Most Beautiful People issue.
I didn't read it because:
  1. I didn't make the list.
  2. The people who did make the list have nothing to do with me.
Seriously, why would I want to read details about a bunch of celebrities in a "aren't they wonderful!?" context? Get out of here. They probably wouldn't make eye contact with me if I met them on the street.
I've seen issues like that before. They usually toss in a few toads to show how deep they are. As if to say "Yeppers, this three eyed, toothless leper has made our beauty list because she rescued baby seals. We see her inner beauty. Aren't we profound? (Okay, enough of this inner beauty crap! Turn the page for more gods and goddesses!)"

That's a darned good observation, so in an act of solidarity, I won't read it either. The bastards.

Then again, "100 most beautiful" probably sells more magazines than "100 most average".
btw, I should have included your name in my webpage hack of the People site where I listed myself, some frequent readers, and some cartoon characters...

And we appreciate that, Namowal. Thanks! I agree with the "why waste time reading this junk" statement. Same goes for most of what's on TV. I've worked in publications my whole life, but I often think many articles published out there are such a waste of time, energy, and trees. Life is too short for such garbage! Have to focus on creative, positive things.

Yet another product of celebrity-obsessed culture. Yay! Let's have a parade for the lowest common denominator and the 5 bucks they fork out for this schlock! WHEEEEEEeeeeeeee! *KLONK*

Hi stray,
I agree much of what's on television and the magazine racks is a waste. Not that it's too dumb or too shallow for me- it's too dumb or too shallow for anybody.
Heh heh, Ghostbuild.
I don't understand why people are so gaga over celebrities. We may be be hardwired to find a model beautiful, but why should we care what her favorite thisandsuch is or how she feels about suchandsuch? Her talent is to look pretty, which can be done with her mouth shut.

Thanks, Stray g. I was getting tired of the shell shocked look.

Nam, did you know that 43% of the work force in L.A. did not complete high school? People mag may be lucky the folks they're targeting can even read the cover.

Namowal (Jennifer Bourne) said...

Sally,
Wow, almost half of us didn't finish high school? No wonder People makes a bundle on their 100 Most Beautiful issue. For maximum sales, they should probably change the name of that issue to "Look! Pretty!"

they should probably change the name of that issue to "Look! Pretty!" lol. That'd be irresistible.

Thanks, booda baby. Maybe People should just sell a Celebrity See 'n' Say toy. Point the central arrow to a the star's picture and hear what sound they make...

I was so excited by the list on your cover, I pounded the arrow key over and over trying to seeing the photos.

Hi Linda,
When I modified the original page and turned it into a screen shot, I forgot that it still looked like it had links. Whoops on my part.
I hope your arrow key still works!;)
