San Diego Comic Con

"This week's topic is Comic Con Geeks," our drawing board leader said. "I'll be expecting lots of self portraits."
The San Diego C0mic con is a big time comics/animation/sci-fi/fantasy convention*. Thus, many drawing board folks attend.
Some fans dress up as their favorite characters. One friend goes there to photograph all the crazy costumes. Superheros/villains are particularly popular. This year, they tell me, the place was awash with Jokers.
I've never been. Geek among Geeks. I'm hoping to go next year.

*where else would someone find Bob Clampett and Grim Natwick under the same roof as Ray Bradbury , Matt Groening and Douglass Adams? It happened in 1983!

People RAVE about Comic Con, don't they? I don't think I've ever heard anyone say anything but rave rave rave stuff. And if you go, will you go as a duck? (If I had to guess, I'd guess that was your favorite character. They probably mean a comic book character, don't they? Ha!)

Congratulations on two years of breathtakingly consistent entertainment.

Thanks, Booda baby. :)

I don't think I'll show up in a duck suit, but maybe I'll have a picture of said duck on my T-shirt. From photos of the event, I've seen comic characters, movie and t.v. characters, cartoon characters, even video game characters!

I was invited to go a coupe of times long ago, but at that time I was still so fearful of running into my former bf that I wouldn't go.

I've heard that this con has been so taken over by the studios promoting their big pics that comics stuff is moved to side rooms.

I really hope you go next year! That's a post to look forward to. Sally, wish you would draw a comic of what would have happened if you had run into your former bf.

Sally,
Yikes, I didn't think of the "running into the old boyfriend" factor. That's a real possibility. Maybe I will go in a duck suit! Or a bag over my head.
I think you're correct about Hollywood muscling in on the action.
Hi Linda,
Now I'll have to go, now that I've shot my mouth off about it here. And I second the nomination for Sally to draw the "what if...?" comic.
Hi Billsey,
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you liked Superslug. I deliberately chose misfit animals (penguin, slug, mole etc..) to enhance the geek factor (not that I'm not one myself!)
