Plagues and Pleasures on the Salton Sea

I have a copy of this dvd but I'm doing a lot of overtime these days, so I can't watch it any time soon.

This is one of those films I can't remember if I've seen or not -- but maybe.

Hi Stray,
The Salton Sea* has a strange history.
About a century ago it was a dried up desert lake. An irrigation dike broke up north and flooded the area (it's below sea level). In the 1950s it was something of a resort, but that's been mostly abandoned. It's still a big hit with birds, but increasing salinity and lack of source water may put an end to that.

*just noticed the guy who wrote the article has the same initials and last name as me. A distant relative? Maybe I'll drop him a line.

I'd love to see the whole video, it looks like a fascinating story.

For a couple of years I've been meaning to take a side-trip out there during one of my Disneyland trips, specifically to see the North Shore Yacht Club building and the (also) abandoned 50's motel ruins...
