Thanks, Sally. I took your advice to cool it on the cut outs for a more flowing movement. Only his head (sans crest) is an actual cut out. Ok, I did use cutouts as guides for the wings, but then drew them for each frame.
I'm a huge fan of frame by frame and frankly, wish I had a lot more time to do it. But characters like this are so ... kind of like pudding. PERFECT for swishing around.
Thanks Linda, I may add music if I find something that synchronizes with it. By "cutout" I mean that I animate by moving a symbol (like most of his head) from frame to frame. The more floppy parts- his hair and body, were redrawn every two frames or so.
Hi Stray, Yes, he has metronome action going!
Thanks Booda, You're right about frame by frame animation. It takes way longer (drawing, redrawing, coloring each frame etc..) but it's more flexible.
Stray G, I threw in the shoulder rise as a final touch. I'd originally driven myself nuts trying to anchor them on his shoulders so they wouldn't float, but it looked so plain that I decided to loosen them up.
Nice loose movement!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sally.

OH NAMO!!! So funny and wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWill it have muzik when it's finished???
What's a cut out? I'll try googling.
Great fun! A metronome!
ReplyDeleteOh I see--you're not just taking one shape and moving it just the way it is--you're altering the shape as it moves.
ReplyDeleteNice nice NICE! I really like the head!

I like how his shoulder looks like it goes up at the top.
