I think when you go back to more finalized drawings, you'll find that these loose drawings have been immensely helpful.
I actually hear the song, "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?" each time I look at this picture. I think the rhythm matches the pose, can just see the poor bird tromping to that rhythm.
Sally, I can see the pic matching "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted" too. Possibly a better match. Maybe I should have gone the Jesse/Strayg route and asked people to guess (or assign) a match. s.g. I think you're right. Tighter drawings tend to flatten the energy.

The gestural drawings capture the energy of movement and life. Sometimes tight drawings are trying too hard.
