Here's a quicky I started while "Creep" was playing.
For those unfamiliar with the song, it's about a rejected misfit with lyrics like
I'm a creep! I'm a weirdo! What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here... What song does it make you think of?
I dunno, Nam, it's hard to think up any period duldrums songs that aren't country. :D
ReplyDeleteYou're the top
ReplyDeleteYou're the Coliseum
You're the top
You're the Louvre Museum
...
I'm a worthless check, a total wreck, a flop,
But if, baby, I'm the bottom you're the top!
(Cole Porter, you're the top)
(I added the new blogger gadget to my blog so I can see when you've added a new post.)
Jesse,
ReplyDeleteI typed the "Creep" lyrics into one of those online dialect translators to give it some heehaw factor, (since you mentioned country music):
"ah's a creep! Fry mah hide! ah's a weirdo! Whut in tarnation th' hell is ah doin' hyar? ah doesn't belong hyar."
I think it's an improvement, no?
Sally,
When I started reading those lyrics I thought you were talking about me and I was gonna say "aw, shucks, I'm not that wonderful!" then I saw the context. I googled the rest of the lyrics. You could almost sing it to the melody of "Creep". I official dub "You're the top" as the AntiCreep! :)
I say, Foghorn Leghorn could sing that thar tune you is a pluckin' young missy :D
ReplyDeleteNo, really, that's accidentally cruel. That question could nag at me allllll day long. I will, however, solve it with this little trick: Once you announced it was 'Creep' inspired, I couldn't think of any OTHER song.
ReplyDeleteThere. That'll do it. I hope. :)
Is your figure less than greek
ReplyDeleteIs your mouth a little weak ...
Jesse, I agree that Foghorn could do "Country Creep" proud.
ReplyDeleteBoodaBaby, Boodababy 1, Namowal 0 ;)
Linda, the Creep character would make a funny valentine, wouldn't he?
