I wanted to play with this more before publishing, but it's been too long between posts so here he is. The strut is based on the example in the Preston Blair book.
That looks GREAT! Which Preston Blair book is that? I remember a strut in the basic book, but it looked nothing like this! YAY HOORAY! Looks like vaudeville.
Thanks, Sally! It's based on the strut in the basic book, but I took some liberties because the bird had different proportions than the strutter in the book.
It has a different rhythm too which makes it seem unique. I really like the way you're focusing on walks, to give character to walks. You're tackling the hardest thing in character animation! (in my opinion)
Thanks again, Sally. I agree that walks are tough. I'd say it takes me twice as long to do a walk cycle as opposed to a lip sync or something flopping around.
Believe it or not, my dad (who knows nothing of J.B. and his brood), suggested I add a clip of "I feel good" for the soundtrack! I didn't for several reasons (including issues with copyright, file size, timing, etc..)

ReplyDeleteThanks, Sally!

ReplyDeleteYeah really the only thing much harder is dance but this walk is like a dance with the timing that's so fluid.
ReplyDeleteAnd his wings are so perfect, too! (How a guy who would walk like that would hold his hands and fingers.)
ReplyDeleteVery exciting.
At first I thought: James Brown after his eggs hatched?

He looks like he doesn't have a care in the world!
ReplyDeleteNice work---
Your dad is something else.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Walterworld.
ReplyDeleteLinda, do you suppose J.B. is using his supersquab powers to channel my dad? ;)
