Oh this makes me so mad.

This is a fun style.

Hi Linda,
It astounds me how teachers and administrators can be so clueless. I guess they rationalize that it's just "kids being kids."
Boy, I'm glad I'm not in seventh grade anymore!
Thanks, Stray,
I suspect Lynda Barry's ONE! HUNDRED! DEMONS! influenced this.
The drawing was fun, but it took

Whoops... hit the button too soon!

The drawing was fun but it took forever to print neatly. Tablet P.C.s were not designed for printing.

What do you mean it took forever to print neatly w/ tablet PC. The processor is slow? or the connection is slow?

Hi Linda,
I don't think the processor or connections were the problem. It's just tricky to print block letters neatly. It's so easy to overshoot or undershoot the parts of the letters- making them too long or too short.

I was picked on in 7th grade too, ick, I don't want to think about it to tell you the truth. The guys who picked on me are all part of the chummy alum group I get emails from. Honest: they'd congregate outside my house after dark and chant "Pipeline"... because my legs were thin. I'd sit in a darkened bedroom and look out at them and think, "Wha?" No wonder I pleaded with my parents to send me to private school.

In the last year I've seen there is an anti-bully movement going on in public schools. As a superficial thinker, my feeling was, "oh geez," but just reading your blog reminds me of how bad that was, the bully/tease thing, and how much worse now when weapons are no big deal.

The lettering looks great, though. I was the geeky bookworm in school with a name that was easy to make fun of.

Hi Sally,
Those "pipeline" guys sound like a bunch of freaks. And a bunch of seventh graders. Something about junior high brings out the worst in kids.
I suppose we were lucky compared to others. I've heard stories of kids getting beaten up by their peers. I've heard of boys ganging up on the weakest (or most unpopular guy) and sticking his head into a flushing toilet!

Hi stray,
I bet every idiot who goofed on your name thought they were being so clever and original.

Hey, look, it's my life!

It's funny how everyone seems to have a story about being a bullied outcast in school. What became of all the bullies? (Besides leading Sally's alumni group.) I occasionally wonder if they ever look back as adults and realize how cruel they were. Probably not; if they were capable of self-reflection, they wouldn't have bullied in the first place.

Hi Brian,
It's funny- nearly every creative person I know was bullied at some point in their life. I suspect that the bullies themselves don't realize how badly they behaved. Or they rationalize it with thoughts like I didn't mean for them to take it personally- I was just kidding around!. Or They brought it on themselves because they were so weird!
